The brief consisted of the desire for a minimalist low cost building that would have low running costs and could provide an appropriate modern work and exhibition space for the third level art course ran by The very successful Gorey School of Art. The site was extremely tight and the budget extremely low as the building was constructed during difficult economic circumstances.
